A flat in the city with patio

This house in the Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona, He needed a reform inside and out. Its interior was outdated, and also its patio, which was not cozy, was a space that contributed nothing to the house. Fortunately, things changed because the interior design project Meritxell Ribé, from The Room Studio, was commissioned, who has managed to renovate the entire floor with a current image, where the environments are warm, the distribution is functional and the playground It has become a stay full of life.

The entrance to the house, rectangular, now leads directly and without doors to the left, to the private area, the bathroom and bedroom, and to the right, to the day. The highlight after the reform is the transformation of the courtyard. The interior designer has turned it into a modern and functional space. In short, he set it up so that it was one more stay in the house, which could be used with the arrival of good weather. In fact, it now has a dining room and seating area, and a latticework with climbers that provide maximum freshness. To make it warmer, he changed the old floor for a synthetic platform of rustic aspect, in oak, which fills it with clarity, and projected a lightweight pergola to place a sliding awning, that gives privacy to the patio and that allows its use, even in the most intense sun hours. Also the lounge is now a different stay. Its visual amplitude is greater because it gains the meters of the old gallery, next to the facade, since it connects with it directly through some openings. Only a partition remains intact and prevents the total connection of the environments; to integrate it, it was used as a support point for the dining area. Next to this, on one side of the gallery, the kitchen has been located, which enjoys the abundant natural light it receives from the patio, and whose white furniture and refined design multiply it.

At the opposite end of the gallery, which is a passage area, it was decided to create a mini reading corner, which is not an obstacle to circulation. Changes were also made in the bedroom area, with the aim of making them more cozy and personalizing the decoration. Both sought to create calm and calm environments. In the main one, a linen wall with black brushstrokes brings elegance and modernity. In the children's bedroom the walls are also given prominence, but with a mural in blue tones that, with success, extends and occupies three of them, to create an enveloping atmosphere. A low floor can be transformed into a completely new house, if your patio is well conditioned, to make it a more environment; Perhaps the most desired with the arrival of good weather.

Keys to renovate the yard: new materials for floor and walls and the installation of a roof that provides shade will make it more cozy; not forgetting the plants and optimal ambient lighting. The interior layout should be oriented towards the patio. In this house, the openings are wide but also high, proportional to the glazed facade, so that natural light flows and the sky can be seen. A success: the platform is oriented towards the gallery, to create a feeling of more depth.
