A current and revival floor

A current and revival floor

In this project, carried out by Mike Alleg, Cristian Simisdean and Sofía Martín Gutiérrez, from Atelier HR study, the materials and designs make winks to the past, although everything emanates an absolutely contemporary air. An upward trend that allows retrieve retro-style pieces and adapt them to the needs of the 21st century. The result is a flat house, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, in which the high ceilings stand out, with the moldings painted in white, and an impressive library, conceived as an inner courtyard and vital center of the house. The uniqueness of this space lies in its furniture, most exceptional pieces acquired in the famous Flea Market, in Paris.

If we look at the walls and ceiling, the old doors, windows and shutters, as well as the play of lines and volumes of the moldings, thin strips of wood on the fronts and ornate pieces at the intersection between the walls and the ceiling. Only the kitchen moves away from tradition and boasts a Straight style straight lines. As a counterpoint to total white of the furniture, the ceiling was painted in black. Two elements burst strongly: a caged ceiling lamp and a black and white mural photo, which opens this space to the stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

In this house there is an atmosphere that stands out above the others, a stay with charme that grabs all the attention: library. A square-plan room, which receives abundant natural light, and open to the rest of the house through a dark metal and glass enclosure, which replaces the partitions. Also conceived as study and reading and relaxation area, highlights the industrial style of the furniture, with a walkway that allows access to the grid, iron bookcase and with the rivets seen.

The floor of the whole house was covered with a Nordic solid wood flooring in a very natural tone, except in the library and in one of the bathrooms, where different hydraulic coatings were chosen. The Atelier HR studio has given a new image to this floor: fresh, natural and stylish. Here, the past is trendy.

Although with intense brushstrokes of color, blue and white are imposed - a chromatic couple that inspires stillness - in the living area, organized with two sofas in L. The fireplace, with the mouthpiece in black marble, is the center of the meeting.

A lounge in two zones

The dining room is located in an independent space, communicated with the kitchen, and gives its space to the living room, where two areas have been created: one of being next to the fireplace and another more functional, dedicated to contemplation and leisure next to a Good book and background music.

In this image you can see the continuity of the living room towards a distributor hall that, at the same time, welcomes the house. In the background: the glazed library.

Horizontal collage

Colored glass and traditional designs create a composition full of charm. Combine twin vases in different colors with others of varied shapes and silhouettes. Vases, similar in Lou & Hernández.

On the way

The natural light that seeps through the glass of the library and the stained glass windows by the door bathes the entrance. A nightstand, a chair and a floor lamp solve a hall located in the hallway.

Reserved space

The dining room is located in a separate room, connected to the hall, the living room and the kitchen. They emphasize the openings with old doors, transformed into sliding.

A vergel!

In just 21 m2, two styles coexist in harmony: classical, in the gathering area, and industrial for the library and the work area. A vertical garden and numerous pots surround this idyllic reading corner, inspired by the past.

Plants, from Ikea. Most of the pieces in this house have been purchased at street markets and some have been restored. Find in pieces that tell stories or turn to second-hand sales pages with real treasures.

In green

Who'd say! The plants in the library gathering corner are not natural. Varieties are mixed in pots, placed at ground level, and others fixed to the wall as a vertical garden.

Culture does take place

The abundant natural light that the study receives is filtered to the hall and to the distributor aisle through the glazed enclosure, which separates it spatially but favors its visual integration in the whole. Order and harmony

The symmetry of the library immediately conveys a sense of order. It is a design by Atelier HR, made by a locksmith and inspired by the creations of the architect Eiffel, architect of the most emblematic monument of Paris.

100% white furniture

White furniture with smooth surfaces and no handles in sight. The kitchen breaks the decorative scheme of the rest of the house. In this environment, functionality in the distribution and choice of materials prevails without renouncing a refined aesthetic. All furniture is from Santos.

Resources that encourage rhythm

It is easy to get it right when all the furniture has the same design and finish. However, the risk is that the environment is flat. That is when it becomes essential to incorporate transgressive elements: a very special design piece.

Simply spectacular

How well the carpentry recovered from the windows with the actuality of the furniture! The mural, full of visual strength, brings depth and warmth to a minimalist kitchen. Although, without a doubt, the presence of the caged ceiling lamp, which illuminates the washing area, puts a magic note.

On the countertop: figure-tray and boats in green, of Los Peñotes.

My star piece

Sober black and white

The bathrooms distil authenticity through retro chic sanitary ware, faucets ad hoc and mirrors framed with ornate moldings. The sobriety of black and white is interrupted by the red note of the chair.

Sanitary ware Royal, from Althea Ceramics. Chair, similar for sale in Maisons du Monde.

The bedroom

The space has allowed to place two large sideboards on both sides of the bed, as a maxi bedside table. A serene environment that transports us to another era. To this contribute, not only the design of the sideboards and the wrought iron headboard, but also the ceiling and wall moldings.

Cushions and blanket, from Los Peñotes.

A luxury

The coverings are responsible for printing the retro character to the bathroom: a hydraulic floor with black and white geometric patterns and white tiled effect in the wall. Infallible.

The shower area has been covered with a wooden platform, moisture resistant, less slippery than other materials and with a very comfortable touch to the barefoot. A glamorous touch among sobriety? The special mirror molding in gold. Fiber basket, similar in Maisons du Monde. Sanitary ware Royal, from Althea Ceramics.

Plan and ideas of the reform

Have you noticed the jewel pieces who populate this house? The furniture that decorates this floor is few, but each one has a great aesthetic power and brand, along with the paintings -classic and modern-, the elegant, authentic and personal style.

The floor and the moldings The walls and ceiling, added to the exceptional height of these, create a perfect base to develop the interior design project, which seeks harmony between the traditional look and current needs.
