This house is a real private Eden

This house, located on a hilltop Calvary of Pollença, enjoys unbeatable views over the old town of this Mallorcan town. The Pollença church, the Puig de María and the Bay of Alcudia are distinguished as main reference sites in an impressive panorama, which can be enjoyed from any point of the plot.

This privileged location fell in love with those who are now their owners, although some changes would be necessary to adapt the house to the needs of their family. The reform - a work whose main purpose was to introduce some improvements to make it more comfortable - was carried out by the professionals of the company LF91 Project Management and the architect Jaume Alomar.

The most important change was executed on the facade. The typical country houses of the island have few and small openings in the walls. Therefore, to gain light, more openings were opened for windows. Inside a new distribution was devised; In addition, the original coatings were replaced by Malloquina stone and the walls painted white. The landscaping project was also especially careful, to take full advantage of the lovely garden and pool area.

The house is organized into two rectangular volumes of two floors - both with a sloping roof to a water - that are articulated by a central core, also of two floors and flat roof, in which are the vertical connection staircase and the main entrance . On the ground floor, the common areas of the house were located: the kitchen open to the dining room and a large living room with access to the porch. The first floor was reserved for the south-facing bedrooms, which guarantees the presence of natural light during the day, and the bathrooms.

The master bedroom, conceived as a suite, with dressing room and bathroom, has direct access to a terrace located on the main facade. With large sliding windows, which disappear completely when open, the exterior view is part of the exclusive charm of this space.

As for the interior design, the neutral tones of the coverings became the perfect background for the careful selection of contemporary design furniture, which was combined with rustic-style pieces in the living room. To dress the environments, plain upholsteries and discreet prints were chosen, without stridency, in neutral tones for the living room, and in warm and serene colors in the bedrooms. In any case, the conductive thread on both floors is a calm, bright and, above all, very comfortable decoration with wood as the star material.

A peaceful environment

The pool of this Mallorcan house was framed with a typical island stone; although in the area near the glass, it alternated with a wooden pavement. The tones of both materials contribute to enhance the blue color of the water. The atmosphere was completed with a seductive solarium area.

In the decoration of the living room, contemporary design furniture was combined with rustic-style pieces, such as the floor lamp, made from recycled driftwood. On a neutral background, with walls, floors and upholsteries in light tones, green and pink brushstrokes were added in details and complements.

The bed was placed in a privileged place, in front of the doors leading to the terrace, to enjoy the views. Thanks to the combination of toasted and blue tones, a serene and elegant atmosphere was recreated. They were combined with furniture of different woods and styles.

Panoramic view

The terraces, located on different levels due to the steep slope of the land, are connected to each other with flights of stairs and large masonry-lined planters. These walls, together with the cladding of the facades, give the building a sobriety and allow a perfect integration of the construction into the landscape.

Relaxing oasis

The glazed surface and the views make this bathroom a magical, warm and comfortable place. With bathtub and shower, the areas are perfectly defined thanks to the coverings and a screen that combines a fixed sheet with glass door.

For two

In the bathroom of the master bedroom, a wooden piece of furniture that runs along the entire front was installed, with a synthetic countertop that integrates a pair of sinks. The taps were embedded in the wall and, to enhance the feeling of visual amplitude, a frameless moon was placed.

The plant must measure at least 1.50 m wide, as this storage solution will subtract about 60 cm from the passage area.

Open kitchen

As they are wide and visually open spaces, it was played with the contrast of styles and finishes so that both were delimited: in the kitchen dominates the blue and in the dining room, the natural wood. A uniform floor brings a sense of continuity.

A more current alternative than the classic combination of high and low cabinets in the kitchen is to group modules from floor to ceiling on one of the fronts and leave the other free of tall furniture. An ideal distribution to gain visual amplitude.
